Ever wanted to go camping and for forest walks with your dog? Well look no further Queenslanders!
Here’s our pick of 5 dog friendly campsites & parks for the whole family to have a weekend away from city life.
1. Benarkin State Forest
With a 150km drive north-west of Brisbane, you’ll find bliss in the pieceful scenic forest area. The drive there is beautiful and the forest is home to many trees such as the hoop pines, tallowwood, white mahogany, gums and ironbarks. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and Bicentennial National Trail also pass through the Benarkin State Forest.
There’s a great spot for camping, fishing and walking. Shower and toilet facilities are also available. Your dog will have many adventures sniffing around the forest.

20 minutes north-west of Gympie, the Brooyar State Forest is a sight to behold. Especially from the Point Pure lookout. The camping area lies between Widgee and Glastonbury Creeks. This quiet retreat contains rainforests and hoop pine plantations. You can also spot a lot of cows minding their own business on the drive through to the campsite.
There are plenty of walks to be had with your dog. This would make a fantastic day trip or why not treat the family to a weekend of camping.

Our next pawsome doggie walk area is Bunyaville Regional Park. This great little place is 15km north-west of central Brisbane, so not far from city life. Explore this pieceful bush retreat with your dog and friends. The walk is quite flat, so great for people who don’t fancy the challenge. Plus if you’re into horse riding and biking, then you’re in for a real treat.

Coominglah State Forest is around 220km west of Bundaberg. With plenty of different walks to explore and lots of wildlife to see, there’s something for everyone. Camping may not be permitted here but you can spend the day bike riding with your furbaby running after you. That means a lot of fun to be had for a day trip!
The beautiful Amamoor State Forest and Reserve is an amazing area for camping and dog walks alike. Located 180kms from Brisbane City, the Amamoor forest includes riverine rainforests, hoop and bunya pine plantations.
